project overview
Shadowcore is a a multi-player focused hero shooter designed for VR headsets. I was brought onto the project in the Alpha stage to develop a single player campaign that would use existing multiplayer maps and gameplay types (ie deathmatch, checkpoint defence, hacking/capture etc) to develop a story involving each of the three character classes.
I developed the characters, lore, storyline and wrote scripts for the first three missions. Sadly my work never ended up in-game, as the developers decided to scrap the single player campaign.
mission scripts
Below are a sample of pages from the game’s opening cutscene and first mission.

incidental dialogue/audio/text
As the scope for new environments, assets and cutscenes was fairly narrow, I opted to use load screens, in-game objects (ad boards, radios, TVs etc) and occasional character dialogue (when out of combat) to communicate lore and develop the main cast of characters.
The main things I wanted to cover with these incidentals were the attitude/world view of the player character (each of the three have quite distinctive personalities) and the status quo of this world (a cyberpunk corporate dystopia).

barks
Throughout the game NPCs and the player character will make comments that relate to generic frequent occurrences (taking damage, killing an enemy with a headshot, needing to reload etc). Below are some examples of barks that not specific to any single level.
